
Ukrainian Diary 2022-2023
The largest exhibition art project "A4, ballpoint", with presented competitive works from 2022-2023. The theme of an exhibition is an artists' depiction of the inner world of Ukrainians during a full-scale invasion. The works in the exhibition are conected by the theme of a diary.
The exhibition project "Ukrainian Diary 2022–2023" presented 375 works by 81 artists that were created from the start of the full-scale invasion. The theme of the drawings is Russian military aggression. The project also includes a retrospective of drawings and essays close to the theme of the exhibition "Ukrainian Diary 2022–2023".
The exhibition was implemented as part of the "A4, ballpoint" art project, an annual Ukrainian art competition of ballpoint pen drawings on office paper, launched in 2006.
The exhibition of selected works was opened on March 28, 2024 at the Ukrainian House, one of Kyiv's leading exhibition venues. The art works was published in a printed catalog with over 790 illustrations, in partnership with the ArtHuss printing house. The catalog presents drawings by the winners of the last open competition 2023-2024, which covered the period from 2022.
The project elevated ballpoint pen drawing, previously perceived as a school toy, to the level of genre of contemporary art. All participants have equal conditions for expression — a ballpoint pen as a technique and office paper in A4 format as a material.
The format of this year is diary that focuses on a personal view and individual optics. As a form of a wartime diary, exhibition also expresses the artist's experiences. Each of the drawings in the project "Ukrainian Diary 2022–2023" captures a concentrate of emotions and feelings. It is a important document for understanding the time in which we had to live.
Among the project participants are Tiberii Silvashi, Yehor Zigura, Oleksiy Apollonov, Igor Gusev, Oleksandr Babak, Molly Route, Anton Logov, ABE, Oksana Chepelyk, as well as beginning artists who have the opportunity to express themselves creatively alongside recognized Ukrainian artists.
The project also took place in Germany on 21 of February with exhibition in Cologneand then on 24 of February with double exhibition in Friedrichshafen..
